Coram is the UK children’s charity that has been supporting vulnerable children for 275 years, and now helps a million children and young people every year. Coram helps children and young people develop their skills and emotional health, finds adoptive parents and upholds children’s rights, creating a change that lasts a lifetime.

Why they asked for support

Coram uses Raiser’s Edge to manage and record their fundraising activity and relationships with donors. About 15 people have been using Raiser’s Edge across disciplines such as direct marketing and trust & major donor fundraising.

Coram needed some work to make the most of their data and coding, and to skill-up team members in reporting and analysis tools to help make the most of the data and opportunities.

What we did

We visited Coram and spend some time with the team to get to grips with all the detail and ‘nitty gritty’ around codes, how they use the system to support their strategy and how they need it configured to deliver the results they need.  Following our ‘findings and recommendations’ report – which outlined all that we learned and helped us prioritise Coram’s needs, we started to fix the issues and make the changes that were needed.

We also spend time training the team, based on time spend identifying the team’s individual and collective training needs.  The resulting training provided a useful opportunity to make sure all records were being managed in the same way with basic administration tasks, start to develop colleagues’ ability to run reports and analyse information, and also to set up dashboards and regular reports, set up Key Performance Indicators and more besides.
